On behalf of experiential marketing agency, George P Johnson (GPJ), two experienced members of the Showforce team set off for Singapore to help oversee the successful delivery of the world’s premier financial services event, Sibos.

Established in 1978, Sibos aims to bring together financial professionals from across the globe for a four day conference, exhibition and networking. Over 8,200 delegates attended the 2015 conference, making it the second largest event since its inception. GPJ was responsible for the delivery of the conference and sessions including the technical infrastructure. They also dealt with Health & Safety Management and event partner co-ordination, including the provision of First Aid along with managing Sibos TV.

Showforce’s crew manager, Laurence Jones, personally requested by GPJ, and Bruce Forster, a long standing crew chief, were commissioned to spend a fortnight in the city-state, working alongside Mark Bannister, GPJ’s technical director and a 60 strong event crew. Together the pair co-ordinated the successful set-up of all the seminar rooms, press & media centre, keynote and TV studios at the Marina Sands Bay Convention Centre.

Bruce was involved in the build process, rehearsals and show days in the Plenary Space which seated more than 2000 people for a large show each day of the conference. He also assisted with the build process, rehearsals, show days, and de rig of the Kabuki drop where he worked directly with draping company Blackout.

Whilst Laurence worked on the conference level where there were some 25 rooms. The build took place over 10 days and he managed the local crew to ensure the various conference rooms were set up and turned around in time.

Both, Bruce and Laurence remained on site for the duration of the conference, before co-ordinating the de-rig.

Mark Bannister said: “Whilst the local crewing company were solid in their delivery, having two great crew chiefs there to oversee and lead by example meant that the work the locals delivered was of an even higher standard than they were used to delivering. That said, I’m looking forward to having a much larger Showforce team to work with next year when Sibos comes to Geneva!”
