Showforce were honoured to be appointed as crew providers to the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies. Some 530 crew members assisted with various elements of the production in both the rehearsals, build- up, breakdown and during the ceremonies themselves. During the Olympic opening ceremony our crew set the “Green and Pleasant Land” phase which involved the set-up of all props including, fences, hedges, stiles, maypoles, and the iconic Cottage.

Specifics/explanation

Showforce tractor drivers played a starring role in the scene change to the “Industrial Revolution” removing the grass sections for sustainable recycling. The scene change had been rehearsed every weekend for three months. In total Showforce crew completed 5,471 man days or 65,650 hours over the course of the rehearsals and opening and closing ceremonies for both the Olympic and Paralympic games making a major contribution to the most acclaimed Olympics in history.
