Showforce was delighted to assist a number of prestigious suppliers with their roles in the Dubai World Cup 2014 opening ceremony and concert. A team consisting of five international crew chiefs and up to seventy crew a day worked with Showtex, Snap, Sledge and Delta Sound, for almost two weeks, to ensure the success of the event.

The Dubai World Cup day, held at Meydan Racecourse, features nine races and begins with a lavish opening ceremony before being bought to a close by a spectacular firework display and concert which this year starred Jennifer Lopez. With a combined prize fund of $27.25 the Dubai World Cup day is the richest day of racing in the world and is the final day in the three month long Dubai World Cup Carnival.

Showforce’s crew carried out a variety of tasks including rigging for the large LED screens, assisting with the loading and unloading of flight cases of kit on the stage, draping trusses, installing lighting and sound equipment and providing general support to all suppliers. The team worked tirelessly on what was an intense and demanding build, some working up to sixteen hours a day to meet the tight deadlines.

In order to access the event site more than 100 people had to be accredited, Showforce’s excellent back office team were able to deal with all the necessary administration within a short space of time. Everyone arrived onsite with the correct paperwork, uniform and appropriate PPE to carry out the work. They also arranged transport to drop off and pick up the crew at specific times throughout the day and night.

The event tested Showforce’s ability to meet their clients’ requirements and deliver what was required with both their crew and back office team demonstrating why they are a global leader in the provision of event crew.
