Showforce lends a helping hand to the Evening Standard Theatre Awards Ceremony

The Evening Standard Theatre Awards was the 63rd ceremony which celebrated theatre and theatre talent throughout 2017 that took place at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on the 3rd of December.  Among those that attended were Andrew Garfield, Keira Knightley and Cate Blanchett.

My Beautiful City were behind the creative production and art direction of the entire event.  Showforce started work on the 2nd of December and supplied My Beautiful City with a team of 115 crew members spread throughout the 3 days on site. The crew members were split into 2 teams. 1 team worked solely on the steeldeck rig, making sure that it was installed with speed and precision but also safely, while the other team focused on helping with the staging production and assisting the load in, which included props, costumes and other various equipment ready to furnish the stage. The crew also helped close both Russell Street and Catherine Street with barriers which were situated outside the theatre, this was to ensure props and the red carpet could be rolled out, ready for the stars to arrive. Everyone worked tirelessly throughout to make sure all of the equipment was ready and in place ahead of the big day. Showforce additionally supplied show crew, making sure that everything ran smoothly with the staging production. Once the event drew to close, the crew began the tight turn around getout in order to hand back the venue in time. The entire event was built and derigged in an astonishing 38 hours from start to finish and the theatre management company were extremely happy that the event didn’t impact on the fabric of the building or 42nd Street production. A fantastic job all round!

The 115 Showforce crew completed a total of 795 man hours over the course of the 3 days.
