Showforce provided crew to BRITs TV to assist with the lighting and LED screen install for this year’s The BRIT’s Are Coming launch party held at The London Studios. A team of 26 crew were onsite from the 10th – 13th January. The crew’s first task was to work with Ogle Hog on the build of the LED screens that would eventually be placed around the venue to add to the visual element of the live performances. The screens were built from scratch, which meant that the crew had to create the backboards that the large LED screens rest on, before attaching them to the cables that would hold them in place. The screens were then suspended from a grid which allowed for some of the screens to be tilted and placed in different positions. Additional screens were placed around the top tier of the venue and directly on to the stage. Showforce also assisted Outback Rigging with the rigging setup around the venue and PRG with lighting which was installed later and situated onstage, in front of the LED screens.
In addition, for J Hus’ performance of his smash single ‘Did you see’, Showforce were required to move two Mercedes Benz vehicles on to the stage. To achieve this Showforce provided Gojacks which were attached onto the cars and maneuvered them through the studio onto the stage. It took the 3 Showforce crew working on this project around 4 hours from start to finish and once filming was complete on the 13th, the cars were reattached to the skids so they could be taken outside ready for the client to collect.
The BRITs Are Coming was presented by Emma Willis and shown live on ITV on 13th January with performances from some of the most influential British recording talent this year, including Liam Payne, Paloma Faith, Clean Bandit, J Hus and the 2018 Critics’ Choice winner Jorja Smith.
The crew also worked on the derig of the LED screens and lighting installation.
