Globally renowned Andrew Lloyd Webber production Evita arrived at Dubai Opera this January for a 16 night sell out run. A joint production between Dubai Opera and Broadway Entertainment Group, Showforce supplied more than 30 crew members to assist with the build and de-rig of the production, as well as two chaperones and four wardrobe assistants. Beginning with the unloading of the tour’s seven stage trucks that transport all the set, stage, rigging, lighting and audio equipment. Once everything was unpacked they assisted with the installation of the audio equipment in and around the complex, two stage technicians assisted with sound for the stage. Other members of the team assisted with the installation of the show’s lighting rig.

Additional tasks carried out by the multi-talented crew included: laying installing scenery on stage and around the theatre to bring the whole musical to life.

The two chaperones worked at the venue throughout the two weeks that the production was in Dubai, taking care of the twelve children who were part of the show’s ensemble. The chaperones were responsible for collecting the children from their parents and guardians, spending time with them during the day, escorting them to the stage when it was time for their performances and then ensuring their safe return at the end of the show. The four wardrobe assistants were on hand for the 16 days to help with costume preparation and ensuring all outfits were ironed, steamed and washed. The wardrobe assistants were also able to make any alterations and amendments to the costumes throughout the whole production.

A team of 20 Showforce crew returned once the run of performances came to an end to assist with the de-rig. This included removing all of the lighting, audio, scenery, wardrobes, correx® flooring and props. The equipment was then loaded back into the seven stage trucks three hours ahead of schedule.
